Hi! My name is Debbie. I am a mum of three beautiful girls. I’m an Australian living abroad, a competitive swimmer (@debbie.iles) , and a lover of fashion and beautiful fabrics. I sometimes design patterns (available in my Etsy shop), but mostly, I just love to sew.
I started sewing in 2010 when my girls were just babies. I was instantly hooked and have been sewing most days since then.
Thank you so much for stopping by to share my piece of the sewing world. I hope that I can share my projects and inspire you as much as I have been inspired and taught by all the other amazing sewing bloggers out there. x
Love the new site Debbie, swish! Promises great things to come, and I have no doubt they will; onwards!

I love your stuff Debbie! I just start sewing again after being away from it for several years now with your site it has inspired me to keeping chugging along even when I feel I can’t do a simple sewing task. I was ready to throw the towel in when I came across your site. It’s getting much harder to sew with my carpel tunnel but I will now give up.

HI Debbie, just wanted to call by and say Hi, I read your entire blog yesterday as I was completely transfixed and inspired by your makes, I couldn’t stop reading!, I’ve only been sewing a couple of years myself but have been in a bit of a rut, you’ve inspired me to get my sewing mojo back, thanks and keep up the great work!

Hi Rachel!
Thank you so much for your kind words. Ironically, they’ve come at a time when I’m feeling a little down (I’m homesick after arriving back from a four week trip to Australia – sadness affects my sewjo!). I’m going to take my own advice and just jump back into that first sewing project tonight. I think the first step is the hardest, and after that, just be fearless. Don’t be afraid of making a mistake or messing it up – most mistakes can be fixed or turned into design features ;-). Happy sewing! x

Hi debbie, thanks so much for your inspirational site. I live in NW arkansas and am trying to find fabric stores nearby – Kansas city / Tulsa / Dallas / little Rock are my go to locations. Are there fabric locations in your area or sewing class availability in the KC are that you are aware of. I know linda lee is in Topeka i think? thanks for your time. Teri Hines

Hi Teri,
I so wish I could I could give you the name of a little gem in KC. Unfortunately, we have some quilting cotton stores here and not much else. I think there used to be some wonderful fabric stores here, but they all closed over the last 10-15yrs. A few years back, I was obssessed with visiting Estate Sales in the area and I found some gorgeous fabric gems occasionally – evidence of KC’s past I guess. I purchase all my fabric online.

Thanks Vinniman! Hope things are going ok where you are. No more designs on my end right now. It’s a little crazy with a move back to Australia.
